Matt and Emma met on a train headed for Spain, four years later they founded Emma Carroll Etc.
Emma, a Chicago native, studied design at Central Saint Martins and at the Cordwainers School at The London College of Fashion where she was given an award for Excellence in Leather from the Royal Leathersellers Company.
She spent a number of years working for cult London accessories designer Ally Capellino in addition to a long stint interning for print designer Neisha Crosland. Matt's background is in the non-profit sector and he is involved in documentary film production, he handles the 'business' side.
Having recently returned to the US, Emma decided to turn her formal training and industry knowledge toward her own designs, creating unique leather jewelry and accessories.
Emma Carroll Etc. launched in April 2009 and is currently selling in boutiques in the USA, Canada and the UK. The collection has been featured in a number of style blogs and magazines, including Time Out, Lucky, Teen Vogue, Daily Candy, Style Bite, and Oh Joy.
In October 2009 Emma was selected for Gen Arts Fresh Faces in Fashion Show and was voted one of Daily Candy’s Sweetest things for 2009.
Drawing on her grounding in traditional leather craft techniques, each piece is hand crafted using the finest quality Italian veg-tanned leathers, which are produced and dyed to order.
The designs combine simplicity, attention to detail and vibrant shots of color with geometric shapes and patterns. This is a collection of modern, graphic and playful pieces.
